Sophomore Retreat During the Sophomore Boys Retreat, the young men of Bellarmine will be given the chance to build community and discuss what it means to be a young man of character at our school and in the world. The Sophomore Girls Retreat is a chance for the young women of the sophomore class to come together and discuss issues surrounding female identity, friendships, and self-worth.
Service Modules
As part of their four-year service experience, all Sophomore students participate in a full-day service immersion experience at St. Leo's Church, a Jesuit parish located in downtown Tacoma, as well as a full-day immersion experience at L'Arche Farm. L’Arche Farm and Gardens is a fully functioning farm which strives to create and sell quality products, support purposeful work for people with developmental disabilities, engage the greater community in the experience of L’Arche and foster a spirit of caring for land and people.
Service Plunge
The Sophomore Service Plunge is a retreat that provides an opportunity for 10th graders to "plunge" into the wider community and participate in direct service. Students stay overnight at Bellarmine, participate in community building activities, and spend time at a local service agency doing direct service with marginalized groups followed by reflection and prayer.
