College Essay Writing Workshop

OVERVIEW: College Essay Workshop: Crafting a Compelling Personal Statement. Writing a strong college essay is a crucial component of the college application process. This workshop is designed to help rising seniors understand the expectations of college essays and guide them through the process of crafting a compelling and authentic personal statement. Throughout the workshop, students will:
  • Analyze examples of well-written personal essays
  • Brainstorm potential essay topics
  • Draft their own essays
  • Participate in peer review sessions with classmates
  • Receive individualized feedback from teacher
By the end of the workshop, students will have a solid draft of their essay, which they can refine and tailor for specific college applications in the fall and winter. The workshop meets as a class three times over four days. Students are expected to work independently on their essay between the second and third sessions to ensure meaningful progress.
This hands-on, interactive experience will provide students with the tools and confidence needed to cra​​ft a standout college essay.
