Bellarmine Robotics: Team 360

Established in 2000, the robotics program at Bellarmine gives students the opportunity to gain valuable real world experience and provides challenging games designed to develop a variety of skills applicable in high school and beyond. Students participate in two robotics competitions each year following a build period in which students must design, construct, and test a challenge specific robot. In addition to building and programming the robot alongside industry professionals, students are responsible for media and community outreach, fundraising and other business aspects of the program.

Robotics provides students with an inventive and educational outlet where students can challenge themselves intellectually, and participate in stimulating competitions. Robotics always offers an opportunity for students to get hands on experience with problem solving and engineering as well as creative growth. The team is a tightly knit group that incorporates mutual friendship and respect; encouraging all students to not only have unique opinions and ideas, but to share these ideas in a welcoming and supportive environment. Students have different roles within the team which collaborate to not only form ideas, but to execute these ideas in a timely and productive manner.

Robotics operates through a worldwide program called FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). Every year the team participate in a different challenge, requiring a unique design. Robotics is intended to challenge students to work alongside mentoring industry professionals to gain real world engineering experience while innovating and implementing efficient design to meet the games' specific demands. You can learn more about FIRST and previous game challenges by visiting the FIRST website at firstinspires.org
