Spring Musical "Joseph" Earns Nine Award Nominations
May, 2009 -- Nominations for the 5th Avenue High School Musical Theater Awards were announced May 20 and of the 82 plays from across the state that entered this year, Bellarmine was nominated for nine awards and two honorable mentions for its production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat:
Each year, the 5th Avenue Theater in Seattle holds an awards program (similar to the Tony awards) for high school drama programs in the state of Washington.
"To be chosen as one of the top seven productions is amazing," said Drama Director Nancy Wilkinson. "Everyone involved connected with this experience and worked very hard. It's wonderful when others see and acknowledge the fruits of our labor. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for our students to sing and dance on the stage at the 5th Avenue.
The final award winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on June 8.
Bellarmine received several awards and nominations for its productions of Les Miserables (2008) and Urinetown (2007).
