Food Drive

March 13-28, 2013
Student flyer
13,000 Pound Food Goal
Starting March 13, Bellarmine's ASB begins its annual school-wide service project and food drive, Can the Man. The man is Principal Chris Gavin with the goal of "canning" him representing the placement of 13,000 pounds of food in his office.
St. Leo Food Connection
A yearly tradition for the past sixteen years, Bellarmine's donation to the St. Leo Food Connection is a hefty one. The food bank distributes over 1.7 million pounds of food each year, with Bellarmine's donation adding to a half percent overall. This equates to Bellarmine students helping provide nourishment for over 690 people. Having done so for 16 years, that's over 11,000 individuals in the Tacoma community that Bellarmine has assisted.
Types & Amounts of Food
Each student is encouraged to bring in 15 lbs. of food or more. High density foods are encouraged such as peanut butter, beans, rice, canned soup and canned vegetables. All foods must be non-perishable and no water is accepted.
How Can Parents Help?
Encourage your students to bring in cans from March 13-28. Parents wishing to drop off donations can do so outside the main office. Please do assist in this very important cause.
